Colorado’s construction, real estate, and building management communities all support the state’s goal of improving commercial properties’ energy performance and efficiency in the Denver metro area and around the rest of Colorado. We are proud of the advances we have made in building efficiency and the new technologies and ideas we have incorporated into our buildings. We are also proud that the approach we have taken has been prudent, gradual, and done in a way that does not cause financial harm to the public. We have worked in good faith with lawmakers and regulators to try and meet the standards that have been set by the government while achieving that crucial balance needed to keep costs on Coloradans manageable and tolerable.Unfortunately, our efforts are being threatened by proposed new rules being advanced by the Air Quality Control Commission (AQCC). The AQCC is set to hold hearings next month on proposed Regulation 28, which seeks to quantify greenhouse gas emissions t...6 places in Boulder you’ll see in a new reality dating TV series

Denver Public Schools’ Board of Education released this recording of its March 23, 2023, executive session after news organizations, including The Denver Post, sued the district, arguing the board violated the Colorado Open Meetings Law by discussing public policy in the closed-door meeting. The newly released recording of the Denver Board of Education’s closed-door meeting the day after the East High School shooting shows board members working to craft a policy to put armed police back in schools amid pressure from the public, the mayor and their own superintendent.Denver Public Schools spent the last four months fighting to keep the video of that executive session secret, even after a judge ruled the school board had violated Colorado Open Meetings Law and ordered DPS to release the footage. The board, while appealing that ruling, voted Friday to make it public and released the four-hour video over the weekend.A review of the recording shows tension among board members...Top 5 Denver metro area home sales for June all top $8M

Eight weeks after last being seen, a rare wolverine might live on in the Sierra Nevada wilderness. Or not.Hopes were buoyed by many separate sightings this spring along a 200-mile expanse of deep snow in the mountains between Truckee and Big Pine. The state’s second confirmed specimen in a century, the animal created great jubilation among conservationists with its arrival. Then the creature – the size of a small bear, with dense brown fur and small rounded ears – suddenly vanished.“It’s disappeared off our map,” said Julia Lawson, an environmental scientist with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife in Bishop.Wolverines are widely seen in Canada and Alaska, with smaller populations in the Rocky and Cascade mountains. But in California, they were long ago extinguished by hunters and trappers. The animal has a ferocious reputation, eating almost anything it can find or kill. City staff members are recommending that Vallejo declare a state of emergency because so few police officers remain in the city. The recommendation, according to city documents, comes as the Vallejo Police Department “has now reached a critical stage in staffing,” with just 43 sworn officers to patrol the entire city. Declaring a state of emergency would broaden City Manager Mike Malone’s responsibilities and obligate him to “take all reasonable and legal steps to ensure that all available resources are provided to the police department.”Officials will vote Tuesday on whether to accept the staff’s request, which is included in the agenda packet for a regularly scheduled Vallejo City Council meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Vallejo City Hall.‘A circumstance of extreme peril’The Vallejo Police Department has lost five officers since March, according to city documents – leaving just nine supervisors and 34 officers available for patrol as of Saturday.
